I'm a fourth-year Industrial Engineer with work joining manufacturing, planning, design, and quality.
My hands on experience includes working with CNC machines, welding, planning manufacturing, designing fixtures, CAD, waterjetting, project management, process improvement, and so much more. I enjoy being able to plan out how make things efficiently and consistently from beginning to end.
Class Highlights
EE 423- Micro/Nano Fabrication
Process specifications for oxidation, diffusion, photolithography, etching, and sputtering
IME 335 - CNC/CAM
Operation of CNC lathes and mills
MATE 401 - Materials Characterization
Materials inspection using light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and various spectroscopies
IME 356 - Manufacturing Automation
Introduction to PLC operation, HMI, machine vision, and control systems
I work in the Cal Poly student machine shops as a shop technician and as the inventory supervisor. As a part of this roles I have taught students ho how to use:
mills, lathes, welders, wood shop equipment, laser cutters, 3D printers, and metrology equipment.
Helping students with choosing the right tools and machines
Maintaining equipment and repairing tools
Ordering all of the replacement parts and consumables for the shop
Organizing the shop
Creating carts for each machine to make using and reordering easier
As a part of Cal Poly Bike Builders I have had a lot of opportunities to take projects from designs to realities. I am very glad to have created a learning project that provides new members with ways to develop their skills in a low stakes but challenging environment before tackling a full bike build. I ran the weekly build days for members and helped people design bikes, weld, miter tubes, use and design fixturing, and braze.
Consulting and providing my services as a student shop technician for EMPOWER has been a great experience. I have assisted with design reviews for club projects. Additionally I have provided welding, mill, and lathe trainings for the club to encourage new members to get all of their certifications and get into the machine shops.
